화면 좌측에는 「歲在戊辰仲冬之吉 唯亭余省並記」라는 제발과 붉은 낙관이 확인됩니다. “무진년 음력 11월 길한 날에 유정(唯亭)과 여성(余省)의 필의를 아울러 기록하다”라는 뜻으로 해석됩니다.

작가는 여성(余省, 1692~1767)으로 알려져 있으며, 청나라 건륭 시기의 궁정화가로 활동한 인물입니다. 강희·옹정·건륭 연간 궁정 화원에서 활약하며 화조화와 인물화에 뛰어난 재능을 보였고, 서양 화법과 중국 전통 화풍을 조화롭게 결합한 섬세한 필치로 이름을 남겼습니다. 특히 새와 꽃, 동물을 정교하게 표현한 작품들로 높은 평가를 받고 있습니다.
