The Gatchul (hat string) was worn to secure the gat (traditional Korean hat) and also served as a decorative item.
There are various types of Gatchul. Among them, the Jukyeong (bamboo string) is made by weaving beads between thin bamboo strips, often adorned with pendants made of amber, ivory, or horn, and glass beads.
This is a high-quality Gatchul, indicated by the number of segments and the variety and arrangement of beads.
갓은 바람에 날아가기 쉬운지라, 머리에 고정하기 위해 착용한 갓끈은 그 자체로 장식품이기도 했습니다.
