This Ilchang Cheojocheong Horizontal Tea Caddy is crafted from high-quality clay mined during the period when the Hwangryongsan mine was abundant. The clay underwent a traditional aging process, weathered naturally for an extended period and then matured in mud form for several months to years.

This meticulous process results in clay with exceptional stickiness and flexibility.

Unlike modern tea caddies, which are often made from finely ground materials similar to flour, this antique Ilchang tea caddy incorporates coarse sand grains naturally. This gives it a unique tactile quality and a distinctive, stylish surface texture.

When held to the light, you can observe the subtle sparkle of quartz and mica particles embedded within the clay.

The pores between the clay particles are well-preserved, ensuring excellent breathability and heat retention.

This tea caddy effectively captures any unwanted flavors or aromas in the tea, while its smooth texture enhances the mouthfeel. It is ideal for brewing Pu-erh, Oolong, and aged teas, allowing their true flavors and aftertastes to be fully appreciated.
