This is the third album by hide, titled 'Ja-Zoo', released as a limited edition. Recorded after his passing in May 1998, this album was intended to be a powerful collection comparable to Deep Purple's 'Machine Head'.

The title 'Ja-Zoo' is a portmanteau of 'Japanese' and 'Zoo', inspired by the frequent use of animal names in the working titles of the songs. The jacket design and the reading of the title as 'Ya Zoo' are derived from 'Yahoo' in 'Gulliver's Travels', referring to foolish, anthropomorphic animals.

This edition includes 10 tracks, featuring hit singles such as "ROCKET DIVE", "PINK SPIDER", and "ever free". The album also incorporates previously unreleased demo recordings, with members of Spread Beaver, particularly I.N.A., playing a central role in its production. This album achieved significant commercial success, marking hide's highest sales for his solo work, including singles, and even surpassing the cumulative sales of his career with X JAPAN on the Oricon charts.

hide의 컨셉은 "딥퍼플의 '머신헤드' 에 필적하는 전곡이 강력한 앨범을 만든다" 는 것이었다.
급서 후 싱글 핑크 스파이더 에버프리가 대박을 터뜨리기도 해 hide 솔로워크로는 싱글 앨범 포함 최대 매출을 올리고 있다.
오리콘에서의 누계 매상은, X JAPAN 시대를 포함해도 최대 세일즈이다.
제목은 「일본인(Japanese)」과 수록곡의 가제목에 동물의 이름이 많았기 때문에 「동물원(Zoo)」의 두 키워드를 합친 조어이다.
재킷의 디자인이나 타이틀의 읽기를 "야 주"라고 한 것은 「걸리버 여행기」의 「야후(yahoo)」(인간을 닮은 어리석은 동물)에서 유래했다.
싱글 "ROCKET DIVE" "핑크스파이더" "ever free" 외, 남겨진 데모 음원을 사용하여, Spread Beaver의 멤버, I.N.A.를 중심으로 제작한 전10곡을 수록.
