This is the 8th major studio album by the Japanese band Dir en grey, released 2 years and 9 months after their previous album [UROBOROS].

The album production began with the concept of 'fierceness and the burning darkness entangled in this heart.' However, the recording process was temporarily halted due to the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11th. It was later revealed in the magazine AMON that some songs created after the earthquake were influenced by the disaster.

The title 'DUM SPIRO SPERO' is Latin for 'While I breathe, I hope.'

This album is expected to resonate not only with long-time hardcore fans but also with all heavy rock enthusiasts seeking stimulation, including guitarists and Western-oriented music fans.

DUM SPIRO SPERO 는 일본 밴드 DIR EN GREY의 메이저 8집앨범
전작 [UROBOROS]로부터 2년 9개월만이 되는 오리지널 앨범. 
격렬함과 이 가슴속에 얽힌 작열의 어둠 제작 과정 때부터 앨범 제작이 시작됐으나 3월 11일 일어난 동일본 대지진으로 녹음이 한동안 중단됐다. 잡지 AMON에서 지진 재해 후 제작된 곡 중에 지진의 영향이 다소 들어간 곡의 존재가 밝혀졌다.
타이틀은 숨이 계속되는 한 나는 희망을 갖는다라는 라틴어다.
종래의 하드코어 팬으로부터 절대적인 지지를 받을 뿐만 아니라, 기타키즈나 서양 편중형의 음악 팬도 포함해 자극을 요구하는 모든 헤비 록 팬에게 받아 들여질 것이다.
