Piloted by Lieutenant René Pomier Layrargues, this specific aircraft, No. 266, was flown in an engagement where Lt. Layrargues successfully shot down Colonel Werner Mölders' Bf 109E fighter. Mölders, a top German ace with over 25 aerial victories, bailed out and was taken prisoner by French forces.

Shortly after this historic victory, Lt. Layrargues' No. 266 was itself shot down by concentrated fire from other German Bf 109s, and the lieutenant tragically lost his life in action.
