This is a large celadon plate, known as a 'Yunhwagudae-ban', characterized by its rim decorated with a floral motif.

The central motif features two five-clawed dragons soaring towards a wish-fulfilling jewel (Yeouiju), symbolizing imperial power and prosperity. The surrounding band is adorned with floral designs representing the four seasons, including plum blossoms, peonies, chrysanthemums, and orchids. The rim is further embellished with cloud patterns.

This imperial design celebrates a prosperous and peaceful era ruled by the emperor.

With a diameter of 45cm, this piece represents an extremely challenging feat of ceramic production. Firing large pieces over 40cm without warping is notoriously difficult, making this vessel a testament to advanced and complex manufacturing techniques. It features a double foot ('Bokup'), a feature typically found only on large ceremonial plates or high-quality display stands.
