백색 자판 위에 청화 안료로 대나무와 국화, 새를 그려 넣은 화조문 자판화이다. 화면 상단에는 대나무 가지에 내려앉은 새를 배치하고, 하단에는 국화와 난초를 어우러지게 그려 자연스러운 화원 풍경을 구성하였다.

청화의 농담을 달리하여 새의 깃털과 대나무 잎, 꽃잎의 형태를 표현하였으며, 빠르고 자유로운 필선에서 수묵화와 같은 운치가 드러난다. 화면 한쪽에는 평안과 길상을 기원하는 ‘죽보평안(竹報平安)’의 제발과 정묘년(丁卯年)으로 보이는 기년, 작가명이 함께 적혀 있다.

자판 가장자리에는 적갈색 목제 액자를 둘렀으며, 상단에 고리를 마련하여 벽걸이 장식으로 사용할 수 있도록 하였다. 자판과 액자에는 세월에 따른 옅은 오염과 마모가 남아 있으며, 민국기 화조 자판화의 장식성과 문인 취향을 살펴볼 수 있는 작품으로 사료된다.
