[BUNJANG] Traces Within the Apple / 사과 속의 흔적

Apples have long been revered as symbols of wisdom and enlightenment.

However, the apple in this artwork is not maintaining its solid form but is slowly melting away. This evokes the feeling of striving to learn and understand something, only to find it slipping through one's grasp, much like knowledge hard-won that seems to flow away too quickly.

I find myself revisiting concepts others grasp easily and often lose my way in the process of learning new things. This leads me to wonder if the wisdom within me has also melted away, much like this apple.

Yet, within the traces of the melted apple, numerous imprints remain, akin to the growth rings of a tree that has stood its ground for a long time. These might not be remnants of lost wisdom, but rather a record of persistent passion and the efforts of not giving up.

사과는 오래전부터 지혜와 깨달음의 상징으로 여겨져 왔습니다.

하지만 이 그림 속 사과는 단단한 형태를 유지하지 못한 채 천천히 녹아내리고 있습니다.
내가 무언가를 배우고 이해하려 애써도 손에 쥐어지지 않고, 어렵게 얻은 지식조차 금세 흘러내려 버리는 것 같은 마음처럼요,,

나는 남들은 쉽게 이해하는 것들을 몇 번이고 되짚어야 하고, 새로운 것을 알아가는 과정에서 자주 길을 잃곤 합니다. 그래서 문득, 내 안에 있던 지혜도 이 사과처럼 이미 녹아버린 것은 아닐까 생각하게 됩니다.

그러나 녹아내린 사과의 흔적 속에는, 마치 한자리에서 오랫동안 버텨온 나무의 나이테처럼 수많은 흔적이 남아 있습니다. 그것은 어쩌면 사라진 지혜가 아니라, 끊임없이 시도했던 열정들과 포기하지 않았던 노력의 기록일지도 모릅니다.
