Kim Young-ja (1922-2015) is regarded as a master in Korean modern art history, celebrated as the "first female Western-style painter of Honam" and hailed as the "master of croquis" for her ability to capture moments instantly. She filled her life with uncompromising artistic passion and was a legendary figure in the Korean art world, continuing to paint even into her nineties. She was a recipient of the Grand Prize.
