**Acquisition History**

The previous owner stated that this piece was purchased about 30 years ago from a specialized importer dealing in Tibetan Esoteric Buddhist statues and Himalayan religious art.

At the time of purchase, it was explained that the work was about 30 years old, but no appraisal certificates, import documents, or manufacturing proof are available to verify this. Therefore, please consider the production date and origin based on anecdotal information only.

**Condition**

As a vintage item stored for a long time, there are natural color variations, wear, dust, and minor casting marks on the surface. The edge of the base shows rough areas and small surface irregularities that appear to be from the manufacturing process. There are no significant, noticeable defects on major parts such as the arms and halo as seen in the photos.

가네샤는 인도 힌두교에서 새로운 시작과 지혜, 학문, 장애의 극복을 상징하는 신격으로 널리 알려져 있습니다.

이번 작품은 네 개의 팔을 지닌 입상형 가네샤상으로, 한 손에는 도끼 형태의 지물을 들고 있으며 반대편에는 고리 형태의 지물이 표현되어 있습니다. 머리 뒤쪽으로 방사형 광배가 둘러져 있고, 보관과 얼굴, 의복의 문양까지 소형 작품답지 않게 세밀하게 조각되어 있습니다.


흔히 볼 수 있는 밝은 황동색 장식품과 달리 전체적으로 깊고 차분한 갈색의 표면을 지니고 있어, 오랜 시간 보관된 빈티지 종교미술품 특유의 분위기가 느껴지는 작품입니다.

소장 경위

이전 소장자로부터 약 30년 전 티베트 밀교 불상과 히말라야 종교미술품을 취급하던 전문 수입상에게 구입한 작품이라고 전해 들었습니다.

구입 당시에도 약 30년가량 된 작품이라는 설명을 들었다고 하나, 이를 확인할 수 있는 감정서·수입서류·제작지 증빙은 보유하고 있지 않습니다. 따라서 제작 연대와 원산지는 구전 내용으로만 참고해 주시기 바랍니다.

상태

오래 보관된 빈티지 제품으로 표면에 자연스러운 색상 변화와 마모, 먼지, 미세한 주조 흔적이 있습니다.

받침대 가장자리에는 제작 과정에서 생긴 것으로 보이는 거친 부분과 작은 표면 요철이 확인됩니다. 사진상 팔과 광배 등 주요 부분에 눈에 띄는 큰 결손은 보이지 않습니다.
