Socheon was a prominent figure in modern and contemporary Korean art, serving as an invited artist for the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Asia Modern Art Exhibition in Tokyo. His work, recognized for its elevated artistic quality, is held in important institutions such as the State Council meeting room and the Korea Military Academy.

He hails from a distinguished family of artists; his son, Professor Kim Sun-du (Chung-Ang University College of Fine Arts), his son, artist Kim Sun-il, and his grandson, artist Kim Jung-il, all graduates of Seoul National University and Chung-Ang University, continue the artistic lineage, making them a representative esteemed artistic family in Korea.
