동경하는 누군가의 안목을 기꺼이 따르고자 하는 심리는 어디든지 크게 다르지는 않은가봅니다. 2021년 8월 25일 GQ JAPAN 포스팅에서는 일본 빈티지샵 중에서도 가장 널리 알려진 베르베르진(BERBERJIN)의 디렉터가 그간 모은 개인 컬렉션을 소개하며 90년대 랄프로렌 셔츠에 대해 조명했습니다. 여름이다보니 반팔 셔츠를 선보였는데 각각 실크/코튼과 실크/린넨 혼방 원단의 칼드웰 셔츠, 그리고 자바(JAVA)라는 이름의 블랙 컬러 쿠바셔츠를 소장품으로 소개했습니다. 그 이후로 일본 내에서는 순식간에 프리미엄이 붙어 높은 가격대에 시세가 형성되었는데, 루프 칼라가 붙는 칼드웰은 당시에도 이미 널리 알려져 있었지만 폴리 소재가 아닌 코튼 소재의 쿠바 셔츠는 좀처럼 보이지 않는지라 유독 높은 가격대에 거래되는 듯합니다.
