Mokjae Heo Haeng-myeon (1906~1966) was a prominent Korean painter of the modern and contemporary era, born in Jindo, Jeollanam-do. He was the younger brother of Ui-jae Heo Baek-ryeon, a master of Namjong Muninhwa (Southern School Literati Painting).

He was also the brother of Mis an Heo Hyeong.

Born into the Heo family of Jindo, a renowned artistic lineage, he learned traditional calligraphy, Sagunja (Four Gracious Plants), and painting from his brothers Mis an Heo Hyeong and his elder brother Heo Baek-ryeon.

He embarked on his career as a painter by participating as a founding member of Yeonjinhoe, an Oriental painting group founded by his brother Heo Baek-ryeon in 1938.

He received honorable mentions at the Joseon Fine Arts Exhibition in 1939 and 1942, and was awarded the Jeollanam-do Culture Award in the fine arts category in 1957.

Initially, he followed the idealized landscapes of his brother Heo Baek-ryeon, but in his later works, he employed the 'Moolg eop' technique, showcasing a realistic style based on actual scenery.

This artwork is a literati landscape painting characterized by its refined and cozy brushwork. It depicts distant mountains, a river, dense pine forests, and even a tiny boat, all rendered with a well-structured sense of perspective.

The artwork is preserved in a high-quality frame. While there are some age-related stains, it is in good condition overall.

보통 선면도의 작품이 사각의 그림보단 가격대가 많이 나갑니다.
목재 허행면(1906~1966)선생은 근현대 한국화가로 전남 진도 출신이며 남종문인화의 대가인 의재 허백련의 막내 동생입니다.
미산 허형선생과도 형제입니다.
화가 집안인 진도 허씨 가문에서 태어나 미산 허형과 큰형인 허백련에게서 전통 서예와 사군자, 그림을 배웠습니다.
1938년 허백련이 창립한 동양화 단체인 연진회에 창립 멤버로 참여하며 본격적인 화가의 길을 걸었습니다.
1939년과 1942년 조선미술전람회
에서 입선하였으며 1957년 전라남도 문화상 미술부문을 수상했습니다.
초기에는 형인 허백련의 관념산수를 따랐으나 후기에는 몰골법을 구사하며 실제 경치를 바탕으로 한 사실적인 화풍을 선보였습니다.
본작푸은 먼 산과 강 빽빽한 소나무 숲 그리고 아주 작은 배한척까지 짜임새 있는 원근감으로 담아낸 정조 있고 아늑한 필치의 문인산수화 입니다.
상태는 고급 액자에 보관되어 있으며 세월의 흐름에 얼룩은 보이지만 양호한편입니다.
