### Historical Background
This collectible coin was minted during the Xuanhe (宣和) era (1119-1125) of Emperor Huizong, the last emperor of the Northern Song Dynasty. This period was just before the fall of the Northern Song, when the Jin Dynasty's invasion loomed and the national finances were in disarray. To cover vast military and administrative expenses, the mint operated intensively, producing a large volume of coins.

This is a "Jie-yi" (절이전) denomination coin, featuring an inscription in Seal Script. Despite being the same "Xuanhe Tongbao" denomination, there are distinct physical variations depending on the mint and the period of production.
