Monoma Neito isn't immediately presented as a likable character. His speech is exaggerated, he harbors jealousy towards Class 1-A, and doesn't hesitate to provoke them. However, delving deeper into his story reveals that Monoma is more than just an "annoying rival." He possesses a strong drive to prove his worth in a way distinct from Class 1-A, eventually evolving into a more appreciated character. His persona is truly admirable!

This repaint focuses on capturing Monoma's inherent tenacity and confidence, hidden beneath his exaggerated expressions and boastful posture, rather than forcing a 'cool' demeanor.

#### 1. Character Interpretation:
Monoma's Quirk is "Copy." He can temporarily duplicate an opponent's Quirk through touch. While seemingly reliant on borrowing others' abilities, Monoma's true strength lies in his judgment and tactical application of those abilities. He is acutely aware of his Quirk's limitations and constantly calculates how best to utilize copied powers. His quick assessment and exploitation of enemy Quirks in battle demonstrate that Monoma is far from a mere comedic character.

Therefore, this piece concentrates on making Monoma look authentically like himself, rather than aiming for a conventionally 'cool' portrayal.

#### 2. 2D Repainting:
This work centers on precise line work for shading and distinct color separation. The suit, a design I particularly admire, is not rendered in a single shade of black. Instead, the dark blue and purple hues are layered with graduated shading to achieve the characteristic dimensionality of cel animation. The creases in the jacket and pants are highlighted boldly where light hits, and deeply shadowed where they fold, ensuring the form is immediately readable. His blond hair is also treated with varying shades of light yellow and brown to define its volume and flow.

Crucially, Monoma's *expression* is a defining feature. The wide-open mouth, clear teeth, and upturned eyes are meticulously defined to replicate his exaggerated, anime-accurate expression.

모노마 네이토는 처음부터 호감형으로 등장하는 캐릭터는 아닙니다.

말투는 과장되어 있고, 1학년 A반을 은근히 질투하며, 자극하는 행동도 서슴지 않습니다. (인상이 깊네요)
하지만 이야기를 조금 더 들여다보면 모노마는 단순한 '얄미운 라이벌'과는 거리가 있습니다.

그에게는 1학년 A반과는 다른 방식으로 자신의 긍정적인 가치를 증명해야 한다는 의식이 강하게 자리하고 있기에 후반부에 호감캐로 변경되요. 인물도 참 멋있다고 생각해요!

이번 리페인트에서는 그런 모노마의 성격을 억지로 멋있게 만들기보다, 과장된 표정과 자신만만한! 자세 속에 숨어 있는 특유의 집요함과 자신감을 살리는 방향으로 작업했습니다.

1. 캐릭터 해석

모노마의 개성은 「카피(Copy)」

상대의 개성을 접촉을 통해 복사하여 일정 시간 사용할 수 있는 능력입니다.

단순히 보면 상대의 능력을 빌려 쓰는 개성처럼 보이지만, 모노마의 진짜 장점은 그 능력을 활용하는 (판단력과 전술적 응용력)에 있습니다.

그는 자신의 개성이 가진 한계를 누구보다 잘 알고 있고, 그 안에서 어떤 능력을 어떻게 사용할지 끊임없이 계산합니다.

특히 전투 상황에서 상대의 개성을 빠르게 파악하고 활용하는 모습은 모노마가 단순한 코미디 캐릭터가 아니라는 것을 보여줍니다.

그래서 이번 작품 역시 '멋있는 모노마'를 만드는 것보다 (모노마답게 보이는 것)에 집중했습니다.

2. 2D 리페인팅

이번 작품의 중심은 (명암의 선, 선명한 채색 분리)입니다.

좋아하는 양복 디자인이라 설레었고, 검정에 가까운 의상은 단순히 한 가지 색으로 마무리하지 않고, 남색과 보라 계열의 명암을 단계적으로 나누어 셀 애니메이션 특유의 입체감을 표현했습니다.

특히 재킷과 바지의 주름에는 빛이 닿는 면을 과감하게 밝히고, 접히는 부분은 깊게 눌러 형태가 한눈에 읽히도록 구성했습니다.

금발 역시 단순한 노란색이 아니라 밝은 옐로우와 브라운 계열의 그림자를 나누어 머리카락의 방향과 볼륨을 살렸습니다.

그리고 모노마라는 캐릭터에서 빼놓을 수 없는 부분이 바로 *표정입니다.

활짝 벌어진 입과 선명한 치아, 올라간 눈매를 또렷하게 정리하여 애니메이션에서 튀어나온 듯한 과장된 표정을 살렸습니다.

작은 디테일이지만 이런 부분이 모노마의 캐릭터성을 결정한다고 생각했습니다.

이번 작품은 특별한 이펙트나 복잡한 베이스 없이도 캐릭터 자체가 화면을 채우는 작품입니다.

오히려 효과를 과하게 추가하지 않고,

*모든 부품, 분리 후 → 얼굴 → 눈(레진) → 머리카락 → 상. 하체 의상 → 악세사리→ 명암 수정
순서로 시선이 자연스럽게 이어지도록 정리했습니다.

가까이에서는 셀 명암과 붓의 디테일이 보이고, 조금 떨어져서 보면 마치 애니메이션 한 장면을 그대로 입체화한 듯한 인상을 주는 것이 이번 작업의 목표였습니다.

4. 마무리

모노마는 자신의 개성을 자랑하기보다,
자신에게 주어진 개성으로 어디까지 할 수 있는지를 증명하는 캐릭터라고 생각합니다.

그래서인지 그의 과장된 말투와 행동 뒤에는 묘하게 진지한 면이 있습니다.

명대사 : "나는 내가 할 수 있는 일을 한다."
이번 작품 역시 그런 모노마의 모습을 담아내고 싶었습니다.

완벽하게 강한 캐릭터가 아니라,
자신만의 방식으로 끝까지 자신을 증명하려는 사람.

그것이 제가 바라본 카피의 대가 존잘 히어로 (모노마 네이토) 입니다.

#One-off Repaint Art Piece

본 작품은 양산형 제품의 도색을 그대로 재현하는 것이 아닌,
2D 애니메이션의 색 분할과 명암을 기준으로 전체적인 분위기를 다시 설계한 원오프 리페인트 작품입니다.

같은 원형을 다시 작업하더라도 색의 농도와 명암, 붓의 터치와 최종적인 분위기는 동일하게 재현될 수 없습니다.

하나의 캐릭터를 하나의 장면이 될때 까지 힘낼게요.
